Don is the son of Irish immigrants. A first generation Irish-American who was born and raised in Texas. He
began playing guitar in the early 1960's and played in all the varied styles that are so prevalent in Texas. He played
rock and roll, blues, Tejano and even bossa nova before giving up music as a profession and beginning a long and rewarding
military career. After leaving the Air Force in 1989 Don began playing again and was drawn to the Irish folk music tradition
that harkened back to his childhood. Upon the Death of his father in 1989 Don wrote a three song cycle to help in the greiving
process. The songs were, "Somewhere In Kildare", "Darling Boy" and "No Lark In The Morning". They were naturaly Irish
in style as well as in composition. After some encourgaement from Ed Miller, of Austin. Don went into the studio to record
his first album titled, "Tejas Go Bragh". After release of the album Don began to receive offers to perform his Texo-Celt
music at various functions around the country. With the support of his family Don set off to remind Irish/Scottish Texans
throughout the State of their roots. And enjoys awakening the sleeping Celt in those folks with music and stories from the
fireside. It is a great heritage to be Irish. It is a great honor to be Texan. But to be both of those things is prehaps the
greatest distinction there is. TEJAS GO BRAGH!
Don married Wrennah in 1987. They have two sons, Jon and Lowell. Jon is a Firefighter in San Angelo and Lowell is
attending Texas State University in San Marcos. Wrennah teaches nursing at Texas Tech University and is Now Dcotor Gabbert.
Don also is the only Vice President ever elected to the San Angelo Blues Society.
